ERF Carseat Help

Postby Lizw » Sat Oct 22, 2011 10:24 pm

Help needed please.

Dan is nearly grown out of his maxi cosi cabriofix and we need to get a new carseat. Actually we will need 2 one for each car he travels in regularly as the next size up seems more difficult to move. Any recommendations? We went into Mothercare the other day and theys sell 2 ERF carseats. The Britax first class and a Maxi Cosi one.Has anyone got any experience of these and can let me know if they are any good?
Thanks

The britax first class is NOT and erf seat. It does until the same weight rear facing as a normal group 0+ seat (13kg). At 13kg it must be turned forward facing and will last until 18kg approx. For a proper ERF until age 4 or above seat have a look at http://www.rearfacing.co.uk/

We have the besafe izi combi isofix and it is a fantastic seat. Very comfy and its actually very easy to remove and put back in.

Not an ERF seat but we have a kiddy energy pro seat which is one of the safest front facing seats, it has a cushion instead of a harness and is fab.

As far as I know the rear facing sold on th high street are not great and are not rear facing for long enough. There are more options online. We have a brio zento but I think we would get a Be Safe next time.
http://www.securatot.co.uk/rear-facing-car-seats lists a few u can get.

We have the Izi Be Safe in my car which is his main sear, pricey but very comfortable & excellent ratings.
We also needed a 2nd seat and got the Volvo badged version of the RF Britax seat it's much cheaper than paying the imported Britax price, it was about £170 you can see it on Volvo's website & can order it from your local Volvo's parts department regardless of whether you have a Volvo :)

Liz I don't know if there is anywhere nearer you that stock RF seats, we went to Baby & Co in Keynsham they have 6 different ones that they will check fit your car & let you try out etc before ordering you one, you have to make an appt but it's a great service.

We have this one, it would be great as a second seat, it is a pain to move, mainly just the tether straps so have been planning on getting a spare set for if it needs to go in grandparents cars.

We have the BeSafe Izi Combi Isofix and it's a great seat. DD is really comfy in it and it doesn't take up too much room. My DH is 6'4" and he still has no problem sitting in the passenger seat with the BeSafe behind it. We got ours from here: http://www.paulstride.co.uk/p0/rearward ... 359944.htm They were really helpful when I was trying to find what would fit in our car.

We've got the BeSafe Izi Combi and I can really reccomend it. I can also reccomend the secureatot site as they are sooooo helpful. The lady calls you up to make sure that the seat you have ordered will fit in your car and if there are any delays in shipping, she calls again. So friendly and helpful.
