Turkey Crown or Whole Turkey?

Postby clothmama » Mon Dec 14, 2015 5:16 pm

Poor @ems101 has got herself in a pickle - what do you think she should get - a crown or a whole bird? This is obviously one of the seasons pressing questions! Tell us your reasons for and against after you do the poll :happysanta: :happysanta: :happysanta:

You may change your vote and your answers won't be held against you :snowball: :snowball: :giggle:

I voted whole turkey, but I'm a traditionalist - Christmas dinner isn't Christmas dinner without turkey and Christmas ham :giggle: and after last year it will have to be nut roast too!

Turkey crown, fewer bones and no gibblets, although last year we had beef for a change

Whole turkey here too, not a fan of crowns and I use the giblets to make stock for the gravy. We have a ham on Christmas Eve and turkey with all the trimmings on Christmas Day.

Normally I would say whole turkey but this year I'm cooking for 9 the day after I arrive in the uk in DH's kitchen with a strange oven :loopy: so I have opted for a very easy dinner and gone for a organic crown, I have bought posh stock to do the gravy as I don't have time to make it I've even got bought in custard rather than making my own, I'm figuring nobody will notice if I hide the carton :hohoho:

Any hints or tips for whole turkeys @clothmama and @louise? Do you need to stuff it or is that optional?
