So, when we came to visit the house, we realised why they didn't put a picture in the brochure.
It had (very badly) fitted wardrobes across the alcoves and fireplace and along the wall by the door. It also had that textured ceiling stuff, also done very badly and uneven, across the ceiling that wasn't inside the cupboards.
The walls and cupboards had been terracotta but then badly painted white.
So, we emptied the cupboards and removed them (DH loved using brute force on them), replaced some floorboards, plastered holes in the wall and got a plasterer in to make the ceiling pretty.
This week we have put in some new skirting board, sanded all the wall and wood and then sugar soaped, put lining paper up on the walls and done undercoat and 2 layers of gloss on all the wood.
The carpet is being fitted tomorrow and we can finish the walls after that. Then the curtain rail and curtains can go up and then we can put the furniture in.
The wall opposite the window will be this colour
We will then be putting a tree decal on that wall and some woodland animals around the room.
