Bpa free?

Postby ems101 » Sat Sep 10, 2016 8:04 am

I know there's some evidence to suggest bpa can be harmful but it doesn't seem conclusive, and certainly not widely accepted or legislated for.

Do you avoid bpa containing things?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A

It's in plastics. Some research to suggest it's harmful as it degrades.

So the concern is baby bottles and water bottles.

It rings a bell now, im sure you can easily buy none bpa bottles in which case it's better safe than sorry as there are no cons to bpa free.

I'm thinking Tupperware, plastic cups, plates, tinned food (cans are often lined with plastic) etc

I buy bpa free for the children's lunchware as they use them every day. I think most of it is bpa free now anyway.

I don't know much about it, but I remember reading this (or something similar) a while ago: http://edition.cnn.com/2016/02/01/healt ... t-be-safe/

Stainless steel water bottles etc. sound good to me (but heavier than plastic).

I will always buy the non BPA option over one that doesn't mention it. Mums friend that has been staying is totally anti all plastics and doesn't use cling film or anything, even tupperware type containers!
