Kefir

Postby 0_Lisa_0 » Thu May 30, 2019 6:23 am

I've been reading up on the benefits of kefir and I just wondered if any of you use/ drink/ make it? I *think* it looks easy enough to make but I'm slightly scared of poisoning myself or making myself really ill. Any feedback and experiences ladies?

I make kefir all the time and haven’t managed to poison myself yet :hohoho: it’s really easy to make, I have a very old wide neck thermos flask I make it in. I usually use it as the base for a smoothie or in my overnight oats.

Not tried it - I do have Kombucha growing though (currently just in a 'hotel' but must start another batch!). It is soooo yummy and healthy - I have made plain and homegrown fruit varieties.

Have a search online - lots of info about it and very easy to do. It is basically fermented tea and it turns into a slightly fizzy drink that is just delicious (particularly the fruit varieties). You 'brew' it with black tea, sugar (which is mainly eaten away), vinegar (first brew) or some of the batch before once you are going. Reported to have lots of health benefits. They sell it in bottles now but it is really easy to make - you just need to get hold of some mother. I'd offer to send some but don't think it would make it! I've seen people here offering it on gumtree equivalent to give away for people new to it so worth a look, otherwise you just order some. A lady I bought hatching eggs off gave me mine :hohoho: :hohoho: @0_Lisa_0
