What washing machine do you have and what cycle do you use to wash your cloth nappies?
I thought it would be good for people, particularly those new to washing cloth nappies to see what other people do with thier machines. So please share your cycles( just copy the template) and I'll copy them back to this post so there is an easy to read list!
Washing Machine make and model:
Cycle:
Hints / tips:
Hardness of water (if known):
Amount and type of powder used:
Washing Machine make and model: Samsung Eco Bubble 8.5kg
Cycle: I tend to put it on the quick 15 minute wash on cold as a rinse cycle which is very effective, then on a 40 cotton wash and press the 'extra rinse' option to up it to 4 rinses.
Hints / tips: This is a very eco friendly machine that doesn't use large amounts of water so I feel that the extra rinses really helps make up for this
Hardness of water (if known): Medium I think
Amount of powder used: 1/2 dose. In Australia I used OMO powder, in the UK I'm using Bold 2in1.
Washing Machine make and model: Candy Grand O 8kg
Cycle: Rinse, then 60 cotton cycle
Hints / tips: If I can still a musty smell when I open the door after the wash cycle then I will do another rinse but it doesn't happen very often
Washing Machine make and model: LG 8kg
Cycle: Pre rinse, 60 degrees, max rinse and spin cycles
Hints / tips: Minimal washing powder, regular machine maintenance washes and occasionally I would do all the inserts at 90 degrees (but very rarely)
Hardness of water (if known): very hard
Amount of powder used: minimal, maybe a tablespoon. I also used Ariel Bio Powder
Washing Machine make and model: Beko 8 kg
Cycle: Rinse, 60degree wash with extra rinse
Hints / tips: Seems to work well with 3/4 dose powder
Hardness of water (if known): Hard water
Amount of powder used: Bold 2 in 1
Washing Machine make and model: Hotpoint washer dryer WDPG 8640
Cycle: rinse with spin turned down to 400, cotton wash 3 @ 40 or 60 spin turned down to 400, rinse with max spin
Hints / tips: after rinse I rub a little fairy on stains on wraps seems to get them out otherwise they remain. Tried the whites wash which is number 2 today @ 60 and think that was good for stain removal, better than anti stain! So maybey add that to my tips, try a white wash if you have one!
Hardness of water (if known): hard i think
Amount and type of powder used: bio half scoop usually aldi own or areial. Dettol sanitiser if on 40 wash as face wipes go in as well.
Washing Machine make and model: zanussi aqua cycle essentials 6kg (cheap and old)
Cycle: cold rinse- no spin followed by 60 cotton wash with spin
Hardness of water (if known): ?
Detergent rockin green classic rock (watermelon)
Hints/tips wash a max of 12 nappies at a time, occasionally put an empty wash on 95 followed by a wash with an ecoegg washing machine detox tablet.
