Wet nappies looking grey in pail before wash

Postby litlestar » Thu Jan 14, 2010 12:33 pm

I wasn't sure exactly where to post this as it's something i've noticed as i'm taking nappies out of the bucket into the washer.
i use tee tree oil in my buckets on a muslin or washable wipe. My lil boy is also a really heavy wetter and i've noticed it tends to be the night nappies that do it worse but all the inserts on my pop ins and inner nappy on my bg organics go a really minging grey colour.

i wanted to know what causes it?
can i stop it happening?
is it harmful?
(i haven't noticed and rashes or anything after removing the dirty nappy or after it's been worn again after washing)

Wait for the summer and hang them out. Our nappies always seem greyer in the winter, but look much better in the summer. Line drying any time of year will help, but stronger sunlight always does the best job imo.
