How to pail dirty nappies?

Postby MissFrodo » Sun Jul 04, 2010 12:50 pm

Just wodnering if I'm doing it the proper way :giggle:

Poopy nappies are put in a bucket with cold water till it's washing day then they go in the washingmachine.
Pee nappies go in the wetbag until it's washing day without doing anything with them.
I always cold rinse them in the machine before washcycle begins.
I was every third day.
Is this a proper way???

I don't bother soaking nappies in water, I dry-pail all nappies, then wash them at 60 degrees every two or three days. For really pooey nappies I occasionally use a cold rinse first, but as long as I don't over-fill the machine then it's not usually necessary.

I rinse pooeys with the shower hose & then chuck them in the nappy bucket with the others, then just wash when it's full.
If we are home I rinse them as soon as he's changed, if we are out I rinse when we get home, turn the shower up to really high pressure on cold & find it blasts 99% away clean. I find the rinse asap helps prevent staining.

Yes! Just flick solids into the toilet first. Using liners will help, too. I've never rinsed mine, and haven't had any particular problems with staining. I can see how rinsing would help, but I can't bear the toilet sluicing method, I always get poo on my hands
