What temperature do you wash at?

we got a new machine just before ds2 and if I wash at 30, even with a prerinse the pooey nappies come out stained. If I wash at 60 they come out clean, so have been washing at 60. We've had no issues with nappy rash.

I wash our clothes all at lower temp.

I always wash at 60. 40 just never seemed clean enough.

I am having this dilema atm, washed at 40 with bold but had major nappy stinkies0- did strip washes on all nappies, inserts etc and still a few smell. Have started washing at 60 with cold prewash and gone back to balls with tiniest bit of powder. hoping that this does the trick and banishes the stinkies!

Nappies are always washed at 60 - Jake has very sensitive skin, so I won't risk doing them cooler. Clothes get done on 30 or 40 (depending on how filthy the kids clothes are after nursery ).

No, or not at least if they are bomb proof workhouse ones.

Do you do a cold wash first hun? Washing the nappies in a hot wash, without the cold pre-wash, just sets the stain. I've always done a cold prewash, followed by a 40 wash with an extra rinse without having any problems. I do an occassional 60 wash when dd has nappy rash or an upset tummy.

Washing at 60 continually can reduce the life of the elastic or velcro in the nappy so it is worth bearing that in mind. Some people never have a problem with the elastic & always wash at 60 & sometimes the nappies fall apart quite quickly.

I use the prewash setting on our machine with no powder in (as a kinda pre-rinse) then the 40 wash with the 1st rinse, then have an extra rinse button too.

The sun is brilliant for stains - but on the window sill on a rainy day also works for bleaching out stains - albeit taking a bit longer!
