hi there

Postby redberry » Tue Apr 08, 2008 9:42 pm

Hi I'm Sarah and having been using a laundry service with my two eldest sons (some years ago) have taken the plunge and been using terries for my 14 week old, somehow in all my searches about nappies before he arrived and since I have only just stumbled across this site, either it's really well hidden or I'm still in the brain turned to mush baby zone!

The main thing I really want to know is what washable wipes are the best, been looking at getting some and would rather benefit from others experience than make expensive un-necessary mistakes myself!

Also is there anyone on here from suffolk/cambridge?

Sarah

Hi Sarah, nice to hear from you. Washable wipes are great! I have to say that I just bought some really ordinary terry ones from Ebay (Junior Joy) and they have lasted me pretty well for 2 years. I also made some which frayed badly (lazy sewing) but they were still usable. Probably other people on here will be able to advise you better about the more luxurious/prettier looking wipes, but I have to say that mine worked just fine. Personally I liked terry better than using fleece, but that may be a matter of opinion.
Would be worth having a look at the WAHM section here.

Hello Sarah and welcome to CNT (glad you finally found it). I'm Rae, and have Kayleigh (at one and a half). We very rarely use washable wipes (because my partner is the stay at home one, and I can't convince him), but did get a few from minki. They were fleece one side and cotton towel the other. They are fine, but if I was looking for more, I would personally just cut up an old towel and sew up the edges. There are a few WAHMs selling pretty ones as well if that floats your boat.

Hi Sarah and welcome. I am Annette, mum to Charlotte who is 2 in a couple of weeks and a little boy due not long after that!

I like my Wee Notions wipes. Have you ever looked at the Wee Notions site - perhaps you shouldn't if you are happy with your current nappies :D !

Hi there

Welcome to the site. I use washable wipes 50% of the time. I bought a 20 pack from a seller on Ebay (cant remember the name) and have made my own.

ok then having joined on here yesterday and spent the evening looking at various things on here I have now spent my day a - making wipes, having found some fleece in the local shop and
b - re-learnt how to knit (I forgot just how cack handed I was at this) to try and make a soaker,

I'm sure one of these items are going to be far more successful than the other, but who cares, I'm also sure that it's the last time my husband books himself two 13 hour shifts in a row, him being slightly less sure about the whole idea of nappies be it washing them or even changing them, let alone anything else.

I might hide the wool till the soaker is finished and then let him discover it once on! :P
