Ahhh very good - I hadn't been doing lots of research when you last told me stuff - now it all makes sense! I've got a Marans Coucou on my list if I end up going to one seller :D the other possible seller doesn't have them though. How does your bantam get treated by the others? I'm a little worried about having a mixed flock - planning on 4 standards (sussex and a red variety and then 2 grey / speckled depending on where I go as to what sort) plus 2 Silkies (I think they are standard though not bantam ones which apparently are a little bigger but still smaller than normal chooks). I'm guessing from your pictures you leave them on the counter not the fridge (just reading about the fridge v counter!).

@clothmama our bantam does just fine with the bigger girls. We did have a brief spell where they did pick on her but I bought some anti peck spray and it worked a treat, they all get on great now.

I always keep the eggs on the counter. The only time they go in the fridge is if the shell has been damaged or if the shell has been soiled in the coop and I've had to wash it which removes the protective coating.

Silkies are lovely, we used to have one but she was always going broody. They make lovely pets but don't really produce many eggs.
