I think their arguments centre around the welfare of the child so therefore they have no real grounds - it's your child. I suspect they are using the "red marks" argument to cover up their reluctance to do something that is not their usual routine on your child.

My daughter went in cloth to her childminde (pockets!) and she got on fine with them, she would send the poo home in them as she said she couldn't be running upstairs to the toilet (erm, actually she did this when the toddlers were potty training!) but that was our compromise.

Hope the chat goes ok.

@gillypoos how did your chat go.

i was aske today to put ryan back in cloth as his bum is gettong really bad in sposie again as he has ba flear ups every now and then and they also think it will help potty train him too. so ryan is back in cloth full time tomorrow so there is no reason for them not to use cloth i think the just don't want to do it.

I dont see the problem for them! They have to change her nappy anyway. Do they just roll up dirty nappies for u to deal with at home or do they clean them off? That's the only reason I could see that they night not want to use the cloth. Their reasons just sound like excuses. I was also told that cloth was restricting my ds1 when trying to walk too. He only walked at 21mths. Ds2 is in cloth full time (I used disposables at night & for long journeys on ds1) & walked at 12mths. Each child is different!

The 'restricting' argument is rubbish. All my cloth bummed babies walked early, 2 of them at 8 months, so don't let them fob you off with that one.
How did your meeting go?

It is not a law per se, but it is an equality issue, equal access etc. They can't refuse as it is discrimination. So silly, and not their business. You could ring OFSTED to direct you to the legislation. If you have no luck let me know and I will ask my nursery as they have no probs with cloth.

She may be more mobile in a sposie, mine is more mobile naked! But they don't let them run around naked! Mobility isn't an issue, really, is it? How silly.

Hello fluffy bum fans!
Sorry I never got a chance to reply yesterday- but thanks once again for your support!

Chat went well, nursery owner quite aware its my choice, Said the mobility thing didn't wash with me, think we will have to agree to disagree on that one. (Ok shes seen millions of babies and i only have the one) said I wasn't going to stop cloth but i did offer to send some sposies in for use if nesessary although said I don't want her coming home in them (coz they aren't filling my bin!) and she was quite understanding and sympathetic.
Feel it did have to be said though, better to get it off ones chest lol!
Overall am really pleased with the nursery the staff are "mature" I.e. not a load of 16year olds like other places we saw. The nursery has been going a long time and Interestingly, owner said they used to have all terry nappies for babies but parents wanted sposies!!
Shame there aren't more cloth bums going there as I think it would make it more "normal" for the staff to deal with cloth! Sometimes the nappies come home having been rinsed out, some are just put in bag minus paper liner/poo, but then also her clothes do too- perhaps it depends on how mucky they are?

Anyway, after a little while I'm going to sneak a few more cloth ones in- (hehehe!!) and get back to normal :) bet they won't say anything..and as its a workplace nursery I'm doing all I can to promote real nappies to my colleagues so perhaps there will be more fluffy babies there one day!!

@mudita, love the comment about being more mobile naked-that made me howl with laughter!!
Xx
