Going away for three days.

Postby deralia » Wed Oct 31, 2012 8:39 am

im going to my mums (this afternoon - aaargh havent packed a thing!) for three days, ive asked if she minds me bringing the cloth nappies, she doesnt, i can use her machine and dryer, but as i dont have a dryer i dont know if i can tumble my nappies! i got them 2nd hand and the label writing has washed off!

mostly i have tots bots bamboo 2 in 1, also have diddy diapers and kissaluvs. and how many do you reckon i should take for my 5 week old? (guessing she's a heavy wetter) and can cheeky wipes be tumbled??

we're off to my parents in law the afternoon i get back (whhhyyyy?) so i will have a chance to put another load on and take some more nappies (i have quite a stash as i have no dryer) which are the least likely to get criticised? pocket nappies? or should i stick with what we use the most and count on my dh to back me up? it's gonna be a family gathering with people i havent even met before(!!!) im already getting a bit of flack for :bf: and :bw: do i just give in and take disposables??

please advise me oh wise cloth users! :-?

Yeh you can tumble anything, i personally didnt tumble wraps because they just don't need it. Take your cloth and be proud

Can't really get my head around why its anyones business if you choose to use cloth, :bf: or :bw: let alone give you grief for it  I would tell them to jog on!

Take what you're confident with and you know works. That way you can show them cloth at it's best e.g. no leaks etc.

My mum thought I was weird when we first started using cloth but she loves it now.

I never tubmbled bamboo nappies but the others should be fine (although thinking about it I did cool tumble bamboo inserts).

I agree with Sara, be proud of your choices, cloth is awesome for the environment, your pocket and your baby!

so..the packing was fine, only made the classic mistake of no pjs for me or the boy! of course baba had eveything she could possibly need  that's first trip away for ya i suppose..

from 1pm yesterday when we left to 1pm today she used 11 nappies (only had 2 changes at night which was rare for her!)

tumbling: my cheeky wipes came out of the tumbler so square! haha! my bumgenius is suddenly very threadbare! big patches of fluff missing, doh! should have checked that one out... the tots bots bamboo came out super soft and squishy, feels great, as it's a one off tumble i doubt it'll matter anyway even if they shouldn't have been tumbled.

also have had thoughts about the MIL trip, she has just told me that she's making loads of curry, i thinking sod the pretty nappies i need bomb proof ones! and i love my cloth, gonna change her proud! :D my mum has been telling all her family who've visited or phoned about the cloth nappies! :) she's a super proud grandma! and my grandma was amazed by the nippas, so cute! she was telling me how she used to leave the house with big nappy pins stuck in her blouse by accident! aww...love my grandma!

thanks for all the advice lovely ladies xx
