Question about newborn stash - do I need flats?

Postby lochsong » Mon Mar 11, 2013 8:20 pm

I've got most of my newborn stash together ( I didn't use cloth until DS2 was 4 months so looking forward to doing from start this time).

7 ME bamboo sandies
6 easy least bimbles
2 xs fluff n stuff
1 xs dunk n fluff
1 xs OWW
1 xs Very baby
1 xs puddlekins

I also have some slightly larger but still small nappies
3 Hollow Oak day fitted Size 1
1 Hollow Oak Night Size1
1 Little Gumnut All hours in small

Wrap wise I have loads!
2 ME airflow small
I fleece swaddlebees small
1 imse vimse newborn
2 size 0 Bright Star
1 bummis superbrite NB
1 thirsties xs
1 thirsties duo size 1
2 wool soakers

I think looking at them all there is enough although some of the xs nappies look ridiculously small!

I wondered if I should get some bamboo terry flats just in case. If so, which are the best ones to get? Should I get 50 x 50? Was looking at 10 nature babies bamboo terries?

I an a terry convert and would happily sell myvwhole small stash for terries.
They are very absorbant and fit any side/shape newborn. Oscar is super skinny and we get leg gape with most xs and s nappies. For the 1st 3 weeks terries were my 'safe' nappy.
So yeah, I would get a few terries. We got small nature babies bamboo and bright bots cotton.

Yes they are so cheap you might as well go for 50 because the 40 are really a newborn size Leon was out of his xs in 2 Weeks!

I loved terries last time but this time have lost the enthusiasm :( however Leon loves his naked bum out so they get used every day for nappy off time

I don't have any terries, didn't with Rhys either. I have some prefolds, but they're really only used for catching spills or no nappy time, or for lazy laundry emergencies lol.

I always would as you never know what shape and size baby is and flats can be made to fit any ;)
Even if its just for a few weeks and its always handy to have a few as fall back nappies.

Flats are a great standby for any situation, mopping up spills etc, so always worth getting imo.

^ wss absolutely

A pack of 12 Junior Joy was one of the first things I bought, and I'm currently trying to work out if those, half a dozen coloured bright bots plus some bimbles (boosted with hemp for overnight) are all we actually need - together with wraps and liners of course.

They always fit, dry quickly and absorb well. Don't think I've had a leak with them yet :D
