Go with whatever feels most comfortable.
With dd1 I took sposies as I d never changed a nappy either.
With dd2 I took sposies and muslin squares already folded and wraps with me. They put a hospital nappy on her first and then I used my cloth.
I only stayed in 1 night with both and they were born in the evening so wasn t there for long.

This time round I think I ll take a mixture again.

Top tip would be to have a bag of baby clothes and whatever nappies you re using that are likely to fit, somewhere where DH / partner knows where it is

We took in afew cloth nappies, and in the event when we left (within 6 hours of Junior being born) he was in the only disposable he's ever worn, as provided by the hospital. The midwife offerred to put a nappy on him and we said yes.

Trouble is that you don't know how long you'll be in. Don't flap too much about mec. Bit of vaseline on their skin and line the nappies, you'll be fine.

I really wouldn't stress about taking cloth in. Yes is a better option, but using disposables really won't hurt in the short term. And if you think you'll stress over getting the right cloth on, or trying to fold a muslin, then take that stress away. there;s plenty of time to do all that at home in comfort.

I'm taking disposables as I'm a first timer and am more confident to wait until I'm home and settled before starting cloth.

Also - we were given loads of disposables so haven't spent any money on them really, hopefully I won't use many and can pass them along once we're over to cloth.

I guess it is all about how comfortable you feel about using them. I can understand wanting to focus on getting breastfeeding started.

Perhaps you can take a mix of disposable and cloth in amd have more cloth ready at home to bring in if needed.

It might not be an issue if you are only in hospital for a very short time.

We use a mix with Isaac, whatever was easiest at the time, but his first nappy was a size 0 bimble. Super cute.

I took cloth and a few emergency sposies but we used size 0 bimbles and diddy daipers with nippas, a couple of soakers and 2 or 3 wraps.with dd1 I used sposies as I wanted to get settled in but wish she had been in cloth from birth.
I was out about 5 hours after dd2 was born.
I guess you need to work on what your priorities are really so maybe take a bit of both :) good luck and fc for a speedy birth and recovery.

Thanks everyone. Have bought some disposables. Might take in some cloth as well, as have got his bag all packed and there is space left. That way I can do whatever I feel comfortable with. DH is really open to anything and I've shown him how to do the nappies.

Hey  not until June 28th, but I've got a bit panicked as a friend of mine is only a few weeks ahead of me and has just had to have an emergency c-section, so figured I can never be too early with packing things.

I've got SPD so not getting out of the house much either, so looking for things to do :giggle:

Cannot wait now. Hoping these last few months will rush by.
