Is this normal? /nappy change frequency

Hi All.
I have a one month old son and have been using cloth nappy with the exception of night time and when we go to certain place.
But other than that, I notice he needs changing every one hour. Maybe a bit more. Is this normal? I use Little Lamb, Tots Bots, Bambino Mio, Pomello and many other different brand. Even Amamaknows that supposed to be good even as night nappy. Still he is restless within an hour.
Makes me wonder how environment friendly am I, that I end up washing so many nappies in a day. Thanks for any input. X Grace.

Hi Grace  Congratulations on your new arrival!

When Isaac was about the same age, he would get through about 10-12 nappies a day as he used to poo at most feeds. We were using fitteds and wraps but the nappy itself was rarely soaked through.

Do you find that the whole nappy is soaked through, or could it be that the feel isn't nice to him. You could use a liner that works as a stay dry layer, that might help.

Id say a fleece liner too. Are you sure its the nappy thats bothering him and not just that he wants a cuddle? !

Congratulations!! :yahoo:
If you really think its the nappy that's bothering him then as the others have said, use a stay dry liner (Minky or microfleece work well). Is there any possibility it could be something else? (Excuse me if this is rude) My little boy wanted to be fed every hour at that age... Is he different in disposables?
As for being environmentally friendly, he won't need half as many changes as he get older. Extra washing has to be better than a nappy sitting on landfill for 500 years, long after his great great great grandchildren have passed...

Congratulations! My DS2 is now 5 weeks old.

He needs changing every 2-3 hours in the day in lamb bamboos / dunk n fluffs / wee notions (sometimes every 10 mins if he poos in a clean nappy  ). It depends on how much he wees, whether he poos and the time of day. I find using a stay dry liner keeps him comfortable longer, even if the nappy is soaked. The same nappies are lasting a good six hours overnight if he doesn't poo.

I was going to ask where they are wet or if they are soaking all over?
If only wet in one area it could be that boosting will help.
My two used to wee for England when they were newborn, I d say a change every two hours was pretty common unless there was a random poo of course ;)
