Best diapers for out and about?

I will be making sized all-in-ones as my general stash, but I'm really unsure on my bag-stash.

I want the maximum amount of absorbency and cuteness, but also the least amount of space.

At the moment I'm thinking shaped inserts with covers, so I could just reuse a cover for several inserts. But I don't know, it would be finding the most absorbent yet streamlined material to make the inner out of.

Plus, how many is a good bag-stash. How many did you carry for various lengths of time and at different ages?

Advice and suggestions much welcome!!

Bamboo fleece , it's super thin and very absorbent. Then you want something for the top like bamboo velour or suede cloth. Your idea for more inserts and a few outlets is the best. We did this with itti nappies. I took out just two outers but 4/5 inners. This was for a full day out or for quick trips two outers 3 inserts. This was after weaning! For the newborn stage I took a million nappies out :giggle:
