Flongies - will they stink in the morning?

Postby queen bee » Mon Oct 05, 2009 8:11 pm

I've just started using wool at night on Samuel and Lily. I love it. However I've only got one pair of shorties for Samuel and I'm awaiting some custom Thomas the tank engine kaypee longies. Samuel would be about 15 by the time I knitted him some longies :hohoho: but I'm good at sewing and was thinking I could easily make him some flongies for over the winter. I know that wool doesn't need washing after every wear but will fleece? I have sooo much washing to do and I'm not sure I want to add to it with more trousers every morning if they whiff. Will i get away with using them for a few nights? Any top tips for using fleece instead of wool?
Also any free sewing patterns online?
Thanks
Kelly

You'll definitely need to wash it after every use I'm afraid. It gets very smelly. Why not buy some wool interlock and sew some interlock longies instead? I'm sure there's been a couple of links to some flongies patterns posted, I'll have a quick look for you.

I use fleece on Dawnie. but I do a nappy wash everyday so it doesn't make too much difference to me :giggle:

Thanks for the link Louise! What a fab tutorial. Looks simple enough. But I think I'll practice on some cheap fleece first. Next question..... where do I get wool interlock from?

Luscious little somethings sell wool interlock

We have 2 fleece wraps and if the nappy isnt wet on outside then i just air the fleece and use it the following night but then regardless it goes in the wash after the 2nd night. IF its a wet nappy night then it goes straight in the wash. We seem to have drier nights sometimes and really wet nights other times lol

And I think Katrina, as in Katrina's Quick Sew Soaker Pattern, has a longies pattern. I could be wrong though
