Jan, I have had an implant both times( have it now after the LO) and never had a problem. I would recommend this to anyone but having said that my medical knowledge tells me that it doesn't agree with all women. My suggestions would be to speak to a family planning consultant and go through all the options and see what suits you.

With Implanon they usually want you to persevere with it for atleat 6 months as it can take that much time to agree with your body. So you can have a go and if it doen't suit you it can be removed. (main problems are heavy bleeding, wt gain as pregesterone makes you hungry, shouldn't be a problem if you can eat sensible, also can make pre-existing depression worse).

You won't find out till you use it. For me it was fantastic. And as I said there is always an option to get it removed. Most people(patients) hae been happy with it.

Hope that was helpfull.

Little late reaction but I had Implanon before getting preggy with Emi and I think it's fantastic.
Went to our GP today for some advise and I think I will get Implanon again.
But first I'm gonna try the Nuva Ring to see how that turns out.

Did you decided yet?

i had the implant when i had to be on contraception when i was taking roaccutane, hated it! bled for 7 month straight and had to have it removed. my best mate has it though and she thinks it's great, for her no periods in 2 months so far. we're going for a shot of depo when i have my section then the coil. i ain't ready to be spayed just yet.

I had the implanon put in when Zach was 6 weeks old. Was great for about 1 year (no periods) then I started bleeding pretty much non stop and had to go on the pill to stop the bleeding until the implant could be removed.

Guess it depends on the person but I wouldn't get it ever again.

I had the implanon shortly after Dex was born and it sent
me loopy. Full blown panic attacks and paranoia, very scary. There's a thread about it in private members. Sorry for short reply, I'm lurking on my phone

I am going to have my implant removed. Really don't think I was well enough informed about it as I am on meds for depression and I am at my heaviest ever as I am constantly hungry and eat everything in sight! Also it makes me extremely edgy and irritable and weeeeeeeepy!
