Got my mooncup.

Postby FUZZIFAN » Fri Oct 29, 2010 5:16 pm

and af is nearly here, any day now. I had a go at inserting it this morning whilst in the bath which was easy enough but I was too scared to let it go  :giggle: so took it straight back out.

Tbh I'm in a bit of a panic about it. Its the getting it back out again that is bothering me after reading on the net about someone ending up in a & e. Also I am a single mum at home with two under 5's so a trip to the hospital is a bit of a nightmare lol!

Any tips for me?? I'm not normally someone that gets in a panic. Also is there any reason that I can't use it before my af starts properly? I'm starting to spot and wondered if it might be the best time to give it a go.

REALLY want this to work as the cost of disposable products is crazy and I'm on a budget. Also, do you use a pant liner when wearing yours? I have a selection of csp but they are mainly full flow jobs.

It can't go anywhere! Assuming you haven't trimmed the stem (which you'll probably find you need to do), you've got something to get hold of. It's not far to your cervix and it can't go higher than that so you will get it out again, it's not as if it's tiny and going to disappear off somewhere.

I realise it can't go anywhere but I think my fear is the panic coming over me as I struggle to get hold of it or pull it out!

So am I right in assuming I can use it with very light spotting to trial it out?

Thanks

Yes!
The trick to getting it out, I find, is to put a finger in and push the side in so it releases the vacuum and then is easier and more comfortable to pull out.

I find it easier to get out when sitting on the loo with my feet a bit raised to induce a slight squat if you like. I cut the stem right off mine and can get it out no problem. They sit far lower than a tampon so generally sit just inside you rather than right up.

I love mine, only been using it 2 months but I think its great. I use a CSP with it just to get use from them but a liner would suffice. You may find you get leaks at first but once you get the hang of it you I'm sure wont go back.

Thank you for your reply.

I actually have just popped it in while the kids where getting ready for bed. Amazed at how easy it was to insert! I'm really surprised at how low it seems to be, feels like if I pushed hard enough it would pop out! It is very comfortable though, I can feel it there but only in a kind of reassurance sort of way, I actually prefer that. I can't tell at the moment though if it is right as don't have enough af for leaks so will have to wait until full flow. The only negative (ish) thing I've noticed is a slight dull back pain above my waist on the left hand side. Not sure what this is relating too so will have to see if it goes away on its own.

If its this easy though its here to stay.

Do you use yours at night? Was thinking of getting some of those natural sponges just for nights.

I use mine at night, no problem. I can't feel my cup once it's in properly. I occasionally feel it pop open from when it's folded for insertion so I know it's where it should be once it's done that and I can't feel it further. And yes, you could possibly use your pelvic floor muscles to push it out, at least part way.
As for the pain, I found that after a few months I got far less af pains generally.

use mine at night. I find it works up higher in the night and can bear down to push it back down lower and remove. I read the review on line about a&e but tbh done see how it could happen. I Read evey review going and never had any of the problems people talked about but think i may have learned form there mistakes
