Advice please, *TMI*

Postby fivefourfour » Fri Feb 25, 2011 1:50 pm

I have always been a bit  at the thought of csp, but the more I think about it, the more appealing it is.

I have heavy and painful periods, so I figure if I can make myself a bit more comfy then why not. I currently use a super tampon (which would last about 3/5 hours) with a night time pad (which I change every six hours)for the first two days, and the last day. Then the middle two-three days I use a regular tampon (which would last the same amount of time) plus the pad. I have to change them at night and still often leak onto the bedsheets.

I guess I'll need to go for heavy wetters, and then find some super absorbant overnight ones. Any fabrics that are particularly good? Or brands that you think will suit? I think I'd like poppered wings, and quite a nice long pad.

I am more happy with the idea of a sponge than a mooncup, is there a particular brand/size/type that I need to look for? And, I work in a shop with a large ladies that does not have sinks in the cubicles. What do people do in these circumstances?

Where do you store them. I've seen sites that say store them in water and wash withing 24 hours, is this what you all do? What if you're out and about, can you keep them in a wetbag for a few hours?

Thanks all. x

I use a sponge and a regual cloth pad as backup for the first 2 days. After that I use a regular pad. I tried both the Mooncup and an sponge and like the sponge a lot better. When I'm out and about I just take a sponge in a sealable plastic bag and a wet cloth wipe to wipe off my hands.

When out and about i always fold mine over and popper together so stained side to the inside and then i have a weenotions carrybag that is waterproof inside on one side and can be poppered together and the other side of the bag stores clean pads (great bag). Then when i get home i just rinse under cold tap till runs clear and then store in a lidded bun i use for that purpose in the bathroom till i put the next wash on.

i use a mooncup and a csp liner just incase. My period is much less painful now I've ditched the tampons.
When out i take a bottle of water with me. Tip it out quick rinse with water and clean it properly when i get home again. I use a small wetbag for out and at home i just put them in the nappy bag and wash everything at 60 with a bit of sanitiser. I have medium flow from weenotions a couple of fluff and stuff 2 puddlekins and some jimmy riddles. I like them all esp the puddlekins.
