Maxine is really friendly and might be happy just to make you a naked doll for a cheaper price, that you could then dress yourself? By the time you have bought everything you need to make one it will add up, she has economies of scale so it would be less than you think x

I haven't made a whole doll, but did make a knotted doll with waldorf doll head for a friend a while back. The tutorial here was fantastic to follow

Some pics

Well I had a quick go at a basic one with some bits I had in already, thank you @mabo for the link, not done the eyes, mouth or hair yet as I'll need a proper doll making needle but I've really enjoyed it so far

This is the first dolly I ever made, for my DD2. This baby is a big one though, it is wearing a 0-3 month babygro!

They're lovely

Catrin loves the one I made last night, apparently he's a boy and he's called 'baby' :giggle: She's not impressed that his clothes don't come off though and has requested one with removeable clothes. I've got loads more of the bamboo interlock that I used for the skin of that one so I think I'm going to order some wool batting and some stockinette and some proper doll making needles and give it a go, if it all goes horribly wrong I'll go begging to Maxine when she gets back of holiday for an instock or a super speedy custom :sew:
