Help with fabric choices for romper pattern

Postby gilbertandmartha » Sat Aug 11, 2012 2:08 pm

I'm going to have a bash at the fishsticks pattern, but I'm a bit confused for the choices of fabric

Yardage:

½ to 1 ¼ yard of print or solid interlock, ribbed knit or jersey for body of coverall or romper

Ribbing or interlock for neckline (Note: Ribbing or interlock are the best choices for the neckline. Jerseys will not have enough stretch, and ribbed knits will lose their shape and sag after being pulled on.)

SO whats interlock? I know what ribbed knit and jersey is.

Also f0r the neckline what do they mean by ribbing?

thanks

Interlock is thicker and much better quality that jersey. Lasts much longer. Ribbing, is the stuff you get on the colars of most tees. ribbed knit is not the same thing, and you can use interlock instead of ribbing if you cant get hold of any.

Those are 2 good us based companies that sells interlocks. Interlock is much much easier to get over in the US than in the uk

I had just found that before I posted my q on here, some gorgeous stuff! I normally shop at fabric.com but am struggling to find knits and interlock and rib knits in funky patterns, although they have just moved so may well re-stock soon.
