clothmama wrote:How long did it take you? Is it the same material as the skirt? What material is it? What will you wear underneath it? What years is it from? Is that what normal women would have been wearing? Sorry for the million questions :giggle: :nosey:

@JabberJabber still waiting to have my nosey'ness fixed! Also just had another look at the pattern and realised there are 2 skirts, which shaped skirt are you doing? Have you finished that yet?

I used my moddy powers and renamed you thread too :hohoho: :hohoho:

You also mentioned you are buying a dress for the ball, have you got it :nosey: ? I'm being very curious about it all as I'm fascinated!! You may have a convert :giggle: :giggle:

The skirt is made from a heavy cotton twill style fabric, really soft and cosy on the outside. I've also used the prototype skirt (the white with blue stripe cotton) as an underskirt. I've done the simple skirt as the more fitted one wouldn't do anything for my hips!

The majority of the jacket is made from the same as the skirt but I didn't have enough so the side panels are in a cotton poly blend as I couldn't find anything else to match. I've lined the jacket with lilac lining fabric too as it's a lovely soft colour to contrast with the stark blue.

I've also made a waistcoat in a dark moss green but I still need to tweak it.

I've based my outfit on the styles from the end of the victorian era, so bustles are mostly gone and the clothing becomes more 'practical' for everyday wear. The event is set in 1889 and is set at the White Lodge in Richmond Park so a riding outfit is suitable.

I was intending to make or buy an evening dress but I've not manages that so I'll just wear a pretty blouse and evening gloves with the skirt.
