What baby blanket should I make?

I want to crochet baby a blanket. I don't want to do another ripple blanket as I may What are the best baby blankets you've seen around? What would you do? And should I do a gender neutral or wait until I know what I'm having ?

I love this star blanket - although strictly speaking its ripple - but not quite the same as the regular ripple blanket. I think it also doubles as a play mat when they are bigger!

I saw the star ones when I was looking but not sure about them - I'm kind of leaning towards really simple plain stripes in gorgeous colours. That 2nd one is so so so pretty but I'm not sure my knitting is up to that
