My first attempt at a shirt!

Postby Bernadette » Sun Jul 27, 2014 1:03 pm

Well after seeing pic's of shirts made by Amanda @gilbertandmartha and @docmaggoo for their little boys, I thought I would finally take the plunge and make one. Fin's is nearly finished too, but this is for Patrick. I don't have enough buttons so need to go out shopping for some this week, but apart from hemming, it is all done.

Not too happy with the collar, but really happy with how the print lined up at the front.

No ruffles or gathering so was a really quick sew!

Thanks! No I used a Create Kids Couture pattern. It was me and not the pattern's fault on the collar, but I couldn't be bothered unpicking and starting again. Lazy, but only for my boys!

I've been using the fishsticks but not too sure I 100% like it. I might have a look at that pattern.

@gilbertandmartha I found I needed to go up a size on the length on the fish sticks pattern to get proportions I liked. Otherwise it was too wide and short.

Thats funny I had never actively thought of it before but I always added more too.. I' just never put two and two toether!

I've also found with fishsticks that its better to wait until I've finished the collar and then measure it against the body to do the crease down the front. otherwise I get an overhang!
