Sounds good  ! Can't wait to see the skirt :yahoo:

We realised when we were doing some work on the tagging clouds yesterday that we need to make sure we are remembering to do a post with each project so that they are searchable, as we always used to do I realised. Once we get a little further with the tagging it will be easy to just click on craft (or specific type) and we are going to add an easy to use date sorter so you could click on your 'sewing' and see all your sewing you have done and choose dates if you want to see the 2014 or 2013 etc

Here is the prototype of the skirt for the victorian event, as I wanted to do a test run before cutting into my nice fabric.

I adore that waistcoat :) :)

The dress looks like it's coming on well. Looks perfect next to the fire place. Are you going to put a bustle in it for full Victorian effect?

http://sucheternaldelight.wordpress.com ... -apologia/

The event I'm going to is set in 1888, in a lodge in Surrey. The bustle was out of fashion by the early 1890's and the rational dress movement had started in some quarters.

So, a bustle-less riding habit would have been quite acceptable for the time :)

This makes things a lot easier in terms of making the skirt. I will still need a corset but at that time they were purely used as undergarments so it can be a simple one. Hopefully the combination of the corset and the longer skirt in a heavier material will mean that the shape is better and more of its time.
