I was just having a nosey at your Rav things @LynniferT and I absolutely love all your bags! The purple and stripey ones are my faves!

What pattern are you using and how many balls of yarn does it take to make a bag and where do you get your handles?

I cant remember if i used a pattern or not.

I probably started with a pattern and then did it my own way to get sizes i wanted.
Its been a few years since i made one but i think i just knitted a rectangular base, picked up the stitches round the outside of the rectangle and knitted in the round until it was the right length. Does that make sense? (This is for a flat bottom one)
Then just felt in the machine, i used a Drops yarn i think? It was cheap and i just ordered a load in colours i liked.

Handles i sourced from either eBay, (China mostly as cheap but take ages to come) Etsy or my friend looked out at car boots and charity shops for mega cheap bags with nice or interesting handles, and i reused those :)

I also did a couple that i just knitted in the round then did a 3 needle bind off and felted, they were easy to do and didnt need a pattern :)

I should also add i have a half finished bag in a box somewhere :lookround:

That is amazing! I've used an attic24 bag pattern before.

You make it sound so easy Lynne! I think I'll try to find a pattern and see if I can get my hands on that wool. Can you remember how many balls per bag?

You should finish it and do how to pics for me as you go!

is it difficult doing the lining? Do you hand sew it to the top? @LynniferT

Most seem to need 10-12 balls of wool and even the stuff you mentioned Lynne is GBP2 / ball which makes for a bit of a spenny bag  haven't got a spare 40 or 50 quid to make a bag!

Can you remember how much bigger you had to make them pre felting?
