T shirt material

Postby cookiegirl » Fri Feb 12, 2010 9:22 pm

Does anyone know where I can get supersoft heavyweight cotton to make some t shirts? I tried google but am just getting confused as I'm not too sure what the fabrics are called
I've bought a few different types but they seem really thin. :-? :-? :-?

TIA

I think you would be looking for cotton knit fabrics rather than woven fabrics, much thicker and stretch more, hope that helps a bit

yes, do search on cotton knit or jersey or even t-shirt fabric. It's quite easy to find plain colours (ebay has loads) buy nice funky prints are much harder to find.

Try searching for cotton knits or jersey. Eco-earth fabrics have some, but they're not cheap.

http://www.chawlas.com sells jersey in plain colours, and http://www.cheapfabrics.co.uk have a small selection too (I used their search box for "jersey")

or here http://www.vendfabricsonline.co.uk/cotton-t-shirt-fabrics-1-c.asp

Do a search on ebay for cotton or bamboo interlock.

cotton (or bamboo) interlock is the good quality thick knit.
If you want to order interlock prints from America and missed out on the fabric co-op that claire was running then you can email Nur directly goodstuffshere@yahoo.com (not all of Nur's stuff is interlock, but she has a good selection of interlock).

this is where i got my plain t-shirt material from I was pleased with it it's thicker than the t-shirts from shops and is very very soft, they do colours but i just got white as it's only to make a few bits from so I dye it,

I got my prints from the seller Rae mentioned these are lovely too!
