I'm also on te lookout for a sewing machine, preferably not too expensive and must be easy to use as when have previously used my nannies sewing machine i got the thread all tangled and the cloth all chewed

Great thread, I'm a firm believer in good machines and you get what you pay for unless used. The reason you pay more for the big brands is because parts are metal compared with plastic on the cheap ones. Now if you can find the oldie machines, they are usually workhorses and much cheaper on ebay or classifieds.

If your machine gives you a good quality stitch, you will end up using it more and getting your moneys worth.

I am on the lookout for a machine, I did see a 'mini sewing machine' in Hobbycraft for £25 but was told it wasn't a good idea and I'd be better getting a more expensive one second hand. I've found this one just down the road from me, does it look any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Brother-X ... 48417219c6

Mmmm I'd personally rather see you pay that money towards a better quality older machine than a £100 new machine.. secondhand.. if you get my drift...

I'll go do a search in a mo and update the very lazy thread I've kept here!

hehehhee

@Star02 I literally have just bought one this morning :giggle: I bought a Singer Confidence 7465 from my local sewing machine shop, and I have already made a little lavendar bag. I haven't used a sewing machine since I was at school and its surprised me how easy this one has been to set up and get going :)
