I have a janome which was cheap, but to be honest it serves me well for my hobby sewing, and it was what I used when I worked as a dressmaker for a living. For most of that time tho I did have access to the local college's stock of machines.

Personally I would always like to have the option of an overlocker, so getting a cheaper machine (without it being so cheap it doesn't work!) leaves more cash for the overlocking!!!
