How to fasten poppers/snaps

Postby Bugglyboo » Mon Jun 13, 2011 7:03 pm

I've just started sewing and making clothes for my little boy. I'm a total beginner so this maybe a really daft question.
How do I fasten snaps? I like the plastic ones as they seem less harsh but where do I buy them and how do they attach?
I really want to make a pair of dungarees but I don't want to fully undress my 10 week old every time I change his nappy as he'll get even more cross than usual :giggle:

Thanks,
Jess

you need snap liers (cheap option) or snap press (expensive option). i got mine from dummymummy.co.uk - very fast customer service.

i *think you can get sew on metallic poppers, which would be cheaper if you only plan on needing a few

I use metal snaps on jersey fabric as I prefer them but I get the painted ones so that there is no metal touching babys skin. I also use a snap press and you can buy then snaps on ebay under open ring snaps

Thanks,

I think I'm probably going to see how I get on with the plastic snaps first but I will try metal poppers next.
