Sewing patterns here - viewtopic.php?f=29&t=73406 - and a list of fabric places here - viewtopic.php?f=29&t=48560. Best place for fabric is www.lushtush.co.uk she has all the fabric for nappies you'll need

Good luck, looking forward to seeing what you've made :wine:

good sites already suggested. i've made tons with knit print outers, which you can get cheap from places like tissufabrics.co.uk - not sure if they've got much in the way of boy fabrics though.

think about how you want to fasten them too - i got snap pliers and snaps from www.dummy-mummy.co.uk and i get my aplix (and pul) from pocketbots.co.uk/notions.htm

so I ordered some OBV; and it came, and it gorgeously soft... but doesn't appear to be the same material as my obv nappies? it has the velour on one side, and is incredibly stretchy, its also a lot thinner than I expected. Was I just imagining the wrong material?

I always imagined BV to be thicker until I bought some of the fabric. It doesn't even absorb much - after prewashing i put a couple of ml's of water on the table and tried to soak it up with the BV and it didn't really. Like you, I originally thought i'd got the wrong material.

It does feel much better once you've made the nappies, just make sure you have an appropriate hidden absorbant layer.

sorry Amanda, you've offered help!
what would you recommend for an absorbent core?
and which way am i going to want the stretch, across the width or round the rise?
am a complete newbie to nappy making, just really fancy having a go!
