Play Quilt Help

Postby Cj2011 » Wed Jul 06, 2011 9:39 am

Now that DD can roll over her playmat is too small so I was thinking of making a big play quilt for her to lay on. I have very basic sewing skills so hopefully I'll manage it
I got some lovely minkee from fabric.com that I'm going to use, will this be ok? And can I use minkee for the binding or would cotton be better? Thanks

I made this for princesssammie recently - it is 1mx1m

Image

The top layer is a minkee type fabric, there is a thin wadding layer and a waterproof layer on the bottom. I didn't use any binding - I simply sewed it inside out and then turned it the right way and then top stitched.

It's gorgeous and I'm planning on making one for my lil man when he is born.

Thats seems a lot easier than trying to bind it  waterproof backing is a great idea, what did you use and where would I get it? Thanks
