Organising fabric

Beth that is just fantastic, I'll be ordering a pack of that card as soon as I have a house so I can get organised! I saw a similar thing a while back but with cutting out polystyrene, this is a much better, easier, quicker and cheaper option - thanks for sharing it!!

What do you do with smaller bits to store them?

I have loads of bits that are only a few inches square - handy for appliqué projects. And they keep Callum entertained. I keep fabric remnants in a 100l box on wheels that lives under my sewing desk. It's a rubbish system, as it's a nightmare to keep tidy and I can never find anything. Need to get more organised in my sewing room.

The bins at the bottom of each column of cubes on my expedit, holds the scraps for that line, sort of. One for knit prints , one for wovens, one for minkee/fleece one for undyed bamboos and one for dyed bamboos I've tried putting material on mini bolts using card, but knit prints don't really stay looking beautiful.

I'm ridiculously bad at organising my sewing stuff. Mainly due to having to drag it all out of wherever I have it hidden at the time, to work with on the kitchen table for a few hours, then stuff it all away again when the table is needed for dinner/painting/brewing/baking/etc. Oh how I dream of somewhere to actually KEEP it all. I'd give my left arm for a sewing room...ok maybe not, but if someone would magically give me a sewing room, a play room, another bedroom and a garage I might have to think seriously about trading a little finger or something

As for what's too small to keep, I keep everything (even ribbons that I take off tshirts , you know the ones that hold them on the hangers in the shops) Everything small like that, and off cuts under a few inches or stupidly shaped, go into a box for Rhys. He loves to glue random bits of fabric onto his paintings etc.
