Id like a waldorf doll for dd's birthday or Christmas but can't really afford one of the exspensive one's so am considering making my own.
Has anyone make their own following a pattern or with a kit? Any tips or recommendations?
Thanks . :wine:

I've made a couple, and halfway through another, but run out of stuffing wool so it's been abandoned for a bit...

I haven't tried any kits, but I bought the book "making waldorf dolls" and have been using it. It's very detailed, although the layout of it has sometimes confused me. You need knit skin coloured fabric for the head and hands/feet, you can do the main body that too, but I've used jersey and BV for my doll's bodies. Wool roving is best for stuffing the body, I got a big 500g bag for a few pounds. I used that stretchy finger bandage for the head inner, and you'll need good strong thread. They're very satisfying to make, and not very difficult, do try it

I have, I used a tutorial on the web. I also tweaked it for my own stuffing as I wanted to use cotton not wool.

The pics are in the fb page above and the tutorials are :

Not actually the one I used but that seems to have disappeared :(

I've made a couple. I bought 2 books, but only really used one of them, which was the one i happened to receive first.

I used diamond fibres for my stuffing wool - they were very reasonably priced. They have a website, but I had to order by email/phone. My Skin fabric I got from little oke.

Instead of trying to hunt down strong thread, the best thing i've found for 'thread' for the head shaping/neck etc is using dental floss. It's much, much stronger than any other thread I've found previously.
