Embroider on PUL?

Postby Rosie_Roll » Sun Oct 02, 2011 7:43 am

Hi all,

I'm a keen sewer and looks like I'm going to be a keen fluff collector too! I'm excited about making my own pretty cloth and have a head full of ideas.

So I was wondering if any of you ladies knew if it was possible to machine embroider on PUL? And if you can how it works as far as stabiliser etc goes?

Thanks!
x

Would the embroidery needle punch holes in the pul and render it no longer water tight?

Okay I haven't a clue however my WN they embroidery on I can't help feeling this would give leeking as even if you tumbled and melted to PUL so the holes reduced surely the moisture would just travel along the thread to the outside?
I do know I have been told to tumble a WAHM pocket the first couple of times to seal any holes from the leg binding.
Don't quote me though

I think you would need to have an outer layer on top of the PUL then embroider the outer layer (cotton, minky etc) as if you were to embroider directly on to PUL I am pretty certain you would get leaks/wicking
