Wood DIY - I'm inspired!

Postby clothmama » Fri Oct 21, 2011 11:10 am

I came across this site years ago before we left France but there was no point starting to make things then. I have now rediscovered it and really look forward to building some of our own furniture!

For those of you that love wooden toys here are some fantastic bits I spotted if you are even slightly handy with a saw and drill or prepared to give it a go! Her instructions look really clear and easy to follow and the results are amazing!:

And one for the boys - a fantastic work-bench!

and to get me started on something not too overwhelming I think I may bookmark this as my first project - looks like I could do that!

I'm going to get J to make these beds for the boys when we move (bear in mind stuff like furniture is much more expensive here than in the UK so it really makes it worth while if you have the skills to do it yourself)

This has got me very excited - I'll have lots of time to think about all the possibilities while I'm packing :giggle:

I love that website. I have a very long list for dh to make from it including bunks, playhouse & a bed for us. Luckily he is very handy & well able to do it :giggle:

There is no reason you couldn't - you only need a few simple tools to get started, as long as you have somewhere to work (am thinking that would be the biggest hurdle!). I love that there is categories for your skill level, so some really easy things if you are complete beginner!

I'd love if someone did make something and post it on here! I'll have to wait now until we are moved and settled in NSW!

Same with Mr CM - he was lucky to get a long email off me with all some of the things I want :giggle:

I wasn't prepared to get the glazed over eyes thing going after a few pages so easier to email him then he can read it properly at his leisure and refer back easily :hohoho: :hohoho:

I haven't spotted them yet! I have long had a dream of an organised laundry with 6 wicker baskets that everyones clothes get put into (in their own basket) plus one for linen and one for towels etc. Low and behold she has a plan to build one :yahoo: (but with plastic baskets not wicker!). She really is fab!
