That brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful is that a group of strangers would come together to care for another womans baby like that. :cry:

Another thought just occurred to me. This isn't a myth exactly but it is something that mothers may not realise. If you decide for whatever reason that you won't breastfeed afterall & you later regret your decision, it is possible to re-lactate. It takes effort & patience but it is possible.

In the UK and all over the world. I just picked one from the US as it was to hand. Why, does it make a difference?

No of course it doesn't make a difference, I think its great! I was just trying to put it into context as lots of is are from UK so I wondered if wet nursing happened here as its not something I've come across. I was just really interested thats all.

That was in that programme Extraordinary Breastfeeding wasn't it? The woman chose a childminder willing to breastfeed her child
