How can you tell if the weight chart in the red book is the one to be used for breastfed babies?

Bum :( I was hoping for a difference. Isaac has now gone from 50th centile to just above 0.4th centile since birth. He's never lost weight (I believe the dodgy reading they had was an error on the scales) but is such a slow gainer. He's only put on 0.2lb since 8 November!

He is, however, a very bubbly baby who chatters, plays and is starting to cruise. He is getting into solids and hasn't really dropped any feeds, so it might help.

Best get him weighed properly before I return to work.

Neither of my kids had any substantial weight gain until they reached a year old. They had slow gains but reached all the developmental milestones and were happy. Weight is only part of the picture.

Ewan dropped from the 90th centile to the 7th - he was a happy healthy boy who just gained slowly. After about a year of age he settled on or around the 50th.

I do think some children need to find their own curve on the charts.

Isaac is doing perfectly!

You may find now that now he's eating more and having more milk at the child minders that he'll gain a bit.

Hi there

Just want to reassure you somewhat. Anais was 6 6 at birth(9th percentile) she was ff fed though fully. At 6 months she was 14 11 and doing really well just above the 9th percentile...then at 9 months she was still the same weight, by 10 months she was lighter and this just went on and on. By a year she was 15 pounds and totally off the charts, she gained a pound about 16 months but then by 18 months was still just under 16 pounds.
She is now 5 and 4 months, still dinky but weighs 30 pounds now and you would never know she had such a poor weight gain at the start. She started piling it on after 4. I would imagine she is still very very low on the chart but she is also short so it is ok x
At 2 years old she was in 9-12 months clothes even with cloth bum.
