If you look at the warranties of some nappy companies, most notably BumGenius you'll find almost all washing powders in the UK void their warranties!

How strange. I wonder if there are different sorts of elastic?

I believe Lastin is one of the most durable. Smartipants are made with swimming costume elastic so better with chemicals/heat

I used a different recipe today and just got the wash out and it was fantastic - smelt really fresh and everything seems clean :yahoo:

1 bar of Sunlight soap (or other plain soap) grated very finely
1 cup of Borax
1 cup of washing soda

I thought I'd start simple and then add stuff later and tweak it. I'm very impressed, I was a bit skeptical (and not even sure why  )

My 2nd batch used the same recipe as I used above but I used the hand made lavender essential oil soap and it was gorgeous  I have just made up my 3rd batch using a different recipe involving an extra cup of washing soda in the mix and a cup of nappisan stuff (I used what I had but will get the eco version next time). I love this recipe it is working incredibly well and whiile not as 100% natural as the original I feel that my whites are better. So far I estimate I've saved between $10 - $15 by not buying OMO!

@littlesez I've got a big old fashioned tin with 'washing powder' on the side and next time I'm going to quadruple the mix and hopefully fill the tin so I'll have a good few months of powder  The sunlight bars I used come in a 4 pack so this is perfect when I do it
