Oaty Baths Are the Way Forward!!

Postby HannahBanana » Mon Nov 19, 2007 2:42 pm

I've been meaning to try it for ages but never got round to it. Anyway this weekend I tied some cereal oats in a muslin securing with an elastic band.

I held it under the hot tap for a bit then left it in the bath. Erin had been particularly itchy in her creases that day with her eczema so I squeeze the muslin so some gooey/watery stuff came out then dabbed her arm creases with it etc. She loved it! She kept holding her arms out for another go, it must have been so soothing for her!

So I don't think I'm going to bother getting anymore of the Dermol on prescription and going to stick to oaty baths from now on!

She also had quite a bit of fun playing with it too!!

they are fab arn't they! thanks for reminding me about them...taneli's skin gets very dry in the winter with the central heating on, and last year, oaty baths solved the problem, but had forgotten about it for this year so far...will get some oats ready right now!

Oooooh I love oaty baths!!

We found oilaitum did bu99er all but oaty baths are fab!!!

Washing the muslin out afterwars is a PITA tho' - I treat it like a pooey nappy and stick the oats down the loo and then bung it in the nappy bucket...

Or just put the oats in an old pop sock/ foot of laddered tights and then you can just bung it all in the bin once you've done with it.

Hannah,
I didn't realise you had an eczema baby as well. The oats are so cheap and they last so long, they are really good. The only problem is that if you don't wash everything out (toys, bathmat, the bath) is that something starts growing. I'm assuming it is due to the nutrients that are left there from the oats. Actually, since we started using the elena's nature things (elenasnaturecollection.co.uk) we have had no problems with the eczema. We had terrible trouble initially and the steroid creams wouldn't shift it. We are getting it all on prescription thru our GP at the moment, which is lucky due to what it would cost us otherwise. The GP had never heard of it before I brought it to his attention, but even he is impressed with the results. Anyway, we have got the day cream, night cream and the trinity soap and shampoo.

thanks for the warning on "growths" lol! Thankfully she didn't have any other toys in with her as she loved the oaty muslin so much haha!

Sorry to hear your GP wasn't as interested in alternatives as mine.

It's ok. EVer since I picketed BC for a skin complaints board as there wasn't one!!! and they set it up in the end after lots of pestering! I now have loads of different ideas from everyone else and Erin's skin is under control at the moment. SHe still gets itchy but my god it was bad before.
