Any veggie and/or vegan mummies out there?

Oops, sorry Sara! I started off my veggie life eating fish as my boyfriend at the time was veggie but ate fish. When we split up he expected me to start eating meat again, but instead the natural progression for me was to stop eating fish. Can I ask, out of curiosity, the difference for you between eating fish and other meat? Just wondering, you don't have to answer if you don't want to!

I'm vegetarian and have been for about 22 years. DH and the kids aren't and I will cook meat for them but they're quite happy eating veggie meals too. I'll let the kids decide for themselves when they're older.

Slightly off-topic, had to share a definition from a Veggie board I was browing yesterday:

Veggie means you don't eat anything that poops
Vegan means you don't eat anything made by anything that poops

Im just weird! I know its sounds really strange but I kind of feel like its a natural to eat fish and easy to digest, its full of all those lovely omega 3's and brain food With meat its hard to digest and hard to chew which makes it feel like its not supposed to be. sorry complete ramble! And i know this will sound awful to non fish eaters but i feel like they wouldnt feel pain this is how i justify it to myself

Thanks Sara, the omega oils are tricky aren't they, I do feel like I'm missing out on that, but at least the boys aren't, unless of course they choose not to eat it when they're older. Another strict vegetarian friend of mine and her hubby (strict as in he wouldn't let a non-veg friend heat her pizza up in their oven because it had ham on) started eating meat once a fortnight once they had their ds as they felt it was important for them all to have. Funny though, it all started with a nice piece of salmon or tuna every couple of weeks for family dinner. A couple of years on their ds has fish fingers two or three times a week

I only started eating tons of fish since being and as i just knew how good it was for bubs now she eats it too I think its called pescetarian or some other strange label, i find it just easier to call myself vege

Veggie here! For 20yrs (gosh, that long?? My dad still thinks it's a phase I'm going through ). I was vegan for a while in my teens, but got quite ill so went back to veggie. Dh eats a little meat, as do the boys, but none are voracious meat eaters and probably only have fish or meat a couple of times a week at most.

Wow, there are quite few of you then! cool, my dh is also vegan and I wouldn't be able to cook meat or dairy now so bubs is going to be vegan anyway. I actually came from a farming family and I think that the whole naming animals and eating their offspring put me off meat.

With the omegas, I take a vege blend and have lots of oils from various sources like walnut and hemp which are good for the old grey matter. I have been criticised for being vegan during pregnancy but as I am getting on well so not too bothered by what they say.
