You know, the good old fashioned kind with a couple of brishes that spin as you sweep.....anyone got one?
Do you recommend them? Do they get the carpet clean?

Yep. DH is getting sick of draggind Henry out of the understair cupboard to clean up after Ewan and wants a sweeper but I'm not sure if they work any better now than they used to

We have one. Bella is terrified of vacuum cleaners (even out really quiet Hetty :( ), so we use it to clean the carpets if something gets spilled. We still use the vacuum cleaner, just not as often as we should as we aren't very good at coping with the inevitable meltdown.

Might be worth checking Lakeland, I thought I saw something similar in their brochure ages ago
