erm that refers to johnsons nourishing milk lotion. :-? something i can't find as a product even if i google it. posts about it i can find date back to 2007, so maybe it's not in production any more?

sorry but i find it really hard to believe something used so widely is really that bad. not rubbishing anything u say hun, but i'm sure for every product people use, there will be a post somewhere about how awful it is. just my own opinion of course, but if u believed everything u read on the internet you'd prob live in a mud hut on top a mountain somewhere. ok so i understand somethings are harmful and all but i do think if u googled every product commonly used, you'd find an article on it. :-?

You can still get playdoze on the retro site, if you go on the website you can get them mail order, just look on lush retro.
I have heard some horror stories about some of the ingredients. My MW has just said that olive oil is the best thing for evrything from craddlecap to nappy rash.

We use Bnatural baby bath and shampoo, not sure if they have a lotion but we find it great :wine: DS has awful eczema that always flares up when we use johnsons products, poor thing gets red raw after one use.

Hope you find something that works for you

Johnson's is a common cause of allergic reaction in babies and children. Unfortunately, lots of parents think eczema is normal in a baby and don't associate it with the products they use. It doesn't help that many doctors just prescribe something and don't even bother trying to get to the root of the problem.

One of the the most important things to avoid is sodium laurel sulphate or related ingredients.

Plain water is fine for little babies.

We like this for older babies

and this for toddlers and younger children

The other thing is how often you given them a bath. Babies that are that are bathed every day are far more likely to have skin problems. Twice a week is plenty as water can be very drying too.

ah see i didn't know that. he's washed down daily but bathed about 3 times a week. he's only ever had one tiny patch of dry skin where he rubbed his hair off on the back, gone now though. when he was born we were told not to bath him for the first 10 days as the vernix on his skin was enough to keep him moisturised etc etc and i think there was another reason that i've forgotten too.

Yes, vernix is great stuff and shouldn't be washed off.
