I make my own liquid & bar soaps.

Lush users - please be aware that while lush soap does have natural ingredients in it, it still contains a lot of nasties such as SLS.

Those who use anti-bac soap, please watch out for an ingredient called triclosan. It is currently being reviewed by a few different health agencies such as the FDA as they are considering banning it. Triclosan absorbs into your blood stream & your body cannot process it, meaning it does not leave your body. It has been linked with an increase in allergies in children. It really is nasty stuff & can also be in anti-bac cleaners so please try and find one without.

We've recently switched over the the Method liquid soaps and I have to say I do like them. They get my hands feeling clean without really drying them out.
The range is triclosan and paraben free, which is good to know.

Parabens are another potential nasty to look out for. It's used as a preservative in a the drugs & cosmetics industry. Original research deemed the use of parabens to be safe, however, it has recently come to light that parabens, when applied to or injected under the skin, can cause an estrogen-type response in the body. More worrying is that parabens, in their unmetabolised form, have been found in human breast tumors :-?
More research is needed to say for sure whether parabens have a role to play in the development of breast cancer, but still, I'd rather not take my chances... :|

Downstairs we have the one with the sensor on it that you just hold your hand underneath, in the upstairs bathrooms there are pump dispensers but we tend to just use the bars or Dove that are there x

I tend to use the dove one. Antibacterial soaps are completely pointless as all soap will make your hands 99% bacteria free if you wash thoroughly enough. I find all the antibac ones just dry my hands out horribly.
I can't see the point in sensor ones as when you touch the pump dispenser your hands are dirty, then u wash them so they are clean and u don't touch the pump again until they are dirty again so why the need for a clean pump or no touch system?

We're not very brand loyal in this house. We usually use whatever happened to be on offer at the supermarket.

I also said that to my dp when I first saw the ad. Your taps are also not sensored (at least ours arent) so there is always a risk of putting taps on and off as well.

We use bubble bath. I got loads of it for xmas and rarely take bubble baths. I pour it into the soap dispenser bottle and use it up that way :giggle: Makes for some lovely smelling hands!

If anyone is ill with D&V we use an alcohol hand rub after using the loo and washing hands in the hope it doesnt spread as bad!
