Natural products advice

Postby happytails » Mon Jul 05, 2010 3:48 pm

Well im hoping to have more natural things for this LO as we got ALOT of johnsons for DD i am still trying to use up  Hoping for some recommendations on products and where to get them from for baby and for me :D

After general baby things - shampoo, wash, moisturiser and nappy cream etc
Things for the rest of family, Shampoo, conditioner, Shower gel, shave gel? moisturiser, face wash/toner etc etc

Also what ingredients in general products should i try and avoid? And why. This would really help me sort out what to get when i go shopping etc

Thanks
Sarah x

I really like the Green People range, and the Earth Friendly baby stuff:
http://www.honeybees-store.co.uk/baby-c-1_3_21.html

you can get the Green People range in Waitrose- not sure where else and where is the cheapest? It's really good for dry skin problems too, and the nappy balm works wonders on teething rashes!!

(sorry, fighting children- will try and do more later!!!)

Waitrose do their own natural baby range, comes in white pots with blue writing on I think. It's not organic, but is about as pure as you can get as there is so little to it, I think the last pot I picked up was just coconut oil and avocado oil or something like that.

I use a ton of different stuff, I like trying it all out. Main biggies to avoid are SLS and parabens imo. If in doubt I use this site
http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/index.php?nothanks=1 just put the ingredient you're unsure about in and it will tell you whether it's considered dangerous or not in various countries!

I use Greenbaby stuff, which I get from Sara at http://greenabubs.co.uk/  I use the shampoo/shower gel and sleep balm, but want to the nappy balm s I've heard good things about it. I've also bought the Little Me Organics range from Boots.

For me I buy stuff from Lush, which I absolutely love, in complete heaven in that shop  I'm in the process of phasing out my Boots No.7 and Sanctuary body care stuff in favour of Lush.

I use my Johnsons stuff to wash woolies and have been using up the lavender bedtime bath as handwash in the bathroom as I somehow managed to acquire quite a bit of that.

Do you have a TKMaxx anywhere near you? If so then you can sometimes find kinder things in there. I buy Duchy Organics and Burts Bees bits in ours sometimes.

Lush isn't *that* good, lots of parabens in there last time I looked.
