Breathlessness?

Postby LynniferT » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:39 am

I am 16 weeks today but the last week or so DH has told me i am breathing like an old lady.
I have a blocked nose at the moment (cold/poss allergy) which doesnt help but he got up in a strop twice last night and had a go at me because i was breathing too loud!

Thinking about it I do sound quite out of breath for some reason, i've not been like this in previous pregnancies but I'm really paranoid about it now!

I did have my 16 wk antenatal yesterday and i didn't bring it up with MW because i didnt think it was a problem and i poss have a cough and cold anyway. Is DH just being an arse or should i be worried?

You could give your midwife a call and see what she (or he -there is one male midwife here) says.

May be worth getting iron levels checked, i found i felt a bit out of breath before i knew i was anaemic. I have also suffered with colds and sniffles for most of this pregnancy.

I wouldnt be worried as such but probs worth getting checked out

Think i will ring tomorrow... MW said iron levels were fine but i realised that was bloods from 8 weeks ago.

I feel like i have been breathing quite heavily today. Doesnt matter if i'm moving around or sitting down. (I have walked from car into work and feel like i've walked from home :lookround: )

Also feeling tired so will get try and get levels re-checked. X

:giggle: Yes

No harm in mentioning to midwife or you could ask gp as possibly more than a cold like infection maybe ?

I've had periods of bad congestion which I think is quite common. Best to rule out anything else first though, obviously. Ignore your DH, lol!

I didn't ring surgery in the end as i have cold and a cough now so assume it is because of that. I am keeping an eye on it though and will see if i'm ok again once cold has gone.

On a side note, DH was close to getting a taste of his own medicine last night as he was starting to snore and nearly got a boot up the bum as he kept me awake :giggle:

Little update....so, after tuesdays sickness and feeling really tired and lethargic this morning (out of breath walking upstairs) i gave in and rang docs surgery to ask when my bloods were last taken as i'm pretty sure the bloods i had taken at hospital for triple test dont include iron levels.

Anyway surgery said last bloods were in October (at my booking in app) so midwife is supposed to be ringing me back today especially as around this time in pregnancy my levels usually dip.

Tiredness could be due to a virus but i'd bet my xmas stash of choc thats its my iron levels :giggle:
