pregnant and childrens Olbas oil

... if Dex is using this is it ok for me??


He has it on muslims in bed with us etc but someone said today I shouldnt use it...

Goodness me - you can't use anything these days!! The childrens Olbas Oil is very weak compared to the adults version, so I personally wouldn't mind a few drops every now and again. xx

If you're just inhaling it then I wouldn't think it's a problem. I am extremely cautious with all medical type things (work in pharma, makes me paranoid!), but when ds was a baby, I just used a few drops of the adult one - couldn't justify paying extra for the kiddies one when all he was doing was breathing in from a few drops. Personally for me being preggers, I would use the adult one too, and I don't take anything at all when preggers. Obviously don't use directly on skin or anything though.

Sorry, no scientific evidence for this.

If you've got a stuffy nose see if you can get (boots sell them) a saline nasal spray - can use as much as you like and you can use it on Dex too...

Im not sure what all is in Olbas oil, but I guess its like menthol or eucalyptus etc, which as far as I have understood, is safe to use in pregnancy. You could ring your MW too if you're worried, but I cant imagine childrens olbas oil would be unsafe!

I have to think about it everytime I say it and even then I question if I said it right.

When I was pregnant last Autumn the pharmacist said no Olbas Oil and no Vicks. He said the advice only changed last year and prior to this you could have Olbas Oil when Pregnant. I shouldn't worry too much as your not using it directly but if there is an alternative for LO I'd switch.

I used olbas oil everyday in increasing amounts when I was pregnant with Imogen. I had awful nasal congestion every day throughout (banging head every morning ) and it was the only thing that helped a little to clear my head. My house smelt permanently of the stuff!!!

I put it on tissues in our room.

ETA - the MW said it was fine.
