Are there many WAHMs that sell home made toiletries/baby...

I had this idea this morning, and would like to know if there is likly to be a market for it and what you all think.

Would bascially be making and selling my own products, mainly for baby but also for mums, make from all natural oils. Probably some bath oils, lotions, bedtime oil, Air freshener, wipes solution - that sort of thing?

So basically what I need to start with is:

- Are these products already readily avaliable at a decent price?
- Would I need any sort of licence to sell them?
- Would they apeal to you?
- Does it cost much to sell using a proper site like the WAHM carts?

Bascially, I am always making my own stuff like this. No idea if it would even work out cost effective etc yet but I will do a lot more research once I have basically found out if there is even a market for it! I wouldn't be aiming to make a major profit, just enough to cover costs and a tiny bit extra really, so should end up as cheap as buying the oil and making yourself (as hopefully I will be able to work out how to bulk buy the oils cheaper).

I believe to sell any product to be used on or against the skin you need to get it safety tested before you can go ahead...
Plus insurance...

Others will know more just didn't want to read and run :)

Mandy who used to run Fizz and Suds said that she needed all sorts of paperwork to allow her to sell soap and bath bombs etc. I don't know any more than that though sorry. You could try emailing her and asking her, she is lovely i'm sure she would help you. She now runs Butterfly Gems:

HIya

you would need to get any products you intended to sell safety tested and certified before you could just sell them, you would also need insurances, if you google you will find lots of information

I think it's quite a competitive market too, there are quite a few WAHMs that sell similar things!

I sell my own label of skincare balm, wipes solutions, wool care stuff, bath melts. It has all got to be tested by a toxicologist (which is expensive) and certified safe for use. I also pay quite a lot in insurance as its skincare under manufacturing and own labelling, I will warn you there are next to no insurance companies that will touch skincare.

I would be happy to give you any further advice, just PM me.

That's a shame, still it's alot of work so if that's not what your looking for it sounds sensible!
